Korean Friend visits!

Korean Friends Visit Dean Road!
Our class had a wonderful opportunity of learning a little about Korean culture from a Korean student who was visiting Auburn. Her name is Hyeree Joo (pronounced "Harry") and she attends EWA College which is a women's college in Seoul, Korea.

Hyeree shared many things with us about Korea. She told us about some of the food they eat such as kimchee and rice cakes.

She showed us the traditional Korean dress and told us that they bow to their elders.

Hyeree told us that there used to be a King in Korea and his palace is a place that many people visit while in Seoul.

Our class asked a lot of very good questions. It sounds like Korea is much like the US in many ways. There are 4 seasons and the summer is very hot! There are tall buildings in the larger cities. The subjects the students study in school are the same ones that we study!

Hyeree shared that Koreans wear masks with costumes on holidays. She brought paper masks for each child to decorate!

We made Hyeree a book which told her all about Auburn and the things she should do while she is here. The class worked very hard on it and helped put it together. A big thank you to Mrs. Holmes for binding it together for us!
